In last months discussion we figured out how to make smail2.5/sendmail work when given gateway!local!user instead of user@local.gateway.domain. It involves changing the defs.h file, and no, I'm not going to repeat it again, because it's wrong, wrong wrong (just convenient). Now, all you sinners, is there a good way to get smail to send error returns back through sendmail, instead of through UUX? What I see typically is mail sent from an internal host sent with a bad address, form the non-gateway machine foo: mail person@locel # should be local It gets to the gateway machine, which decides it isn't local mail, forwards it to smail, who decides that it isn't known in the maps, tries to return UUX via foo!user, which also fails because foo is local instead of uucp, and then the whole mess gets bounced to the postmaster (me). I think the way to do the is to change deliver() in smail to use sendmail, just as we had done for the routing last month. Has anyone done this, or found a better solution? (And please don't tell me to get smail 3.X) Thanks, -dB "Ready when you are Raoul!" {amdahl, cpsc6a, mtxinu, sun, hoptoad}!rtech!daveb daveb@rtech.com <- FINALLY!
