clarke@acheron.UUCP (Ed Clarke) (10/24/88)
I've recently picked up a fresh copy of sendmail (5.59) from berkeley, ( also bind 4.8 ) and applied the IDA patches ( revision 1.2.1 from the INSTALL file dated Aug 27 ). Usually the code works perfectly, but on rare occasions it will seemingly go into a loop: @acheron%@acheron .... until it says expansion too long. The problem is not repeatable - I can send the very same message from the very same machine and it will work perfectly. All of the loops have been from mail that comes in via smtp and all have been from other local machines in the same domain. Once the problem starts I have to 'su' and kill sendmail. I wind up with tons of ?f* files in /usr/spool/mqueue that all refer to the same message (most are truncated). Has anyone else seen something like this? If not, then I'll just go back and grab fresh copies of everything and try again. Ed Clarke uunet!bywater!acheron!clarke -- Ed Clarke uunet!bywater!acheron!clarke
