I am far from being a sendmail/smail hacker--vaguely familiar is a better
description of my knowledge of the whole business. I've tried getting smail 2.5
working on 3 occasions and got it working nicely for off-machine mail, but my
local mail goes bananas. In one case it got into a loop forwarding mail to
itself until it exceeded max hops (30). The local mail delivery is obviously
not being specified correctly somewhere. I'm willing to roll up my sleeves and
dig, but have been seeing things like "pitch the sendmail.cf and sendmail you
got from your manufacturer" and suggestions that DEC put some strange things
in Ultrix's sendmail. We are licensed for 4.3 BSD. If anyone has suggestions
I will be duly grateful.
