First, a little about our >situation. Many people were kind enough to suggest that I get the IDA sendmail kit and build it. I proceeded to do so, along with getting and installing version 4.8 of BIND. However, IDA doesn't do what the ULTRIX sendmail did. I'm using the same .cf file that I used before. I define somethings in my .cf file as such: DNVAX1 FN/etc/passwd %[0-9a-zA-Z_-] CN MAILER-DAEMON postmaster admin What they are SUPPOSED to do is forward any mail that cannot be resolved locally to VAX1, which is connect via DECnet. When I go into test mode, I try an unknown username and it resolves to the correct mailer, host, user triple, specifically rewrite: ruleset 0 returns $# Dmail $@ VAX1 $: username It tries to deliver the mail, however, and I get unknown user. The sendmail that comes with ULTRIX will resolve to the same triple and send the mail correctly. Have any other ULTRIX sites out there been able to make IDA do this correctly? I'd really like to use IDA because the sendmail that comes with ULTRIX is broken about 5 different ways. -- Leonard J.
