[comp.mail.sendmail] ~RES_DNSRCH in deliver?

Help!

I'm sure that there is a logical reason for this, so I am here to ask
(sorry if it was already discussed and I missed it...)

In sendmail 5.61 (compiled with NAMED_BIND), why does it turn off
RES_DEFNAME and RES_DNSRCH in deliver() ?

I can see the potential danger, if there is a wildcard MX record, but
if there isn't, then users should be able to use partial domain names:

	in domain a.some.sub.dom.ain,
	mailing to user@host.b.some.sub.dom.ain

	user@host.b would match host@b.some.sub.dom.ain, assuming it
	exists in the namserver.

thanks,
