[comp.mail.sendmail] $g - How is it created?

sam@ncsuvx.ncsu.edu (Sam Moore) (03/09/89)

I am running Ultrix 3.0 sendmail with a script file that I have
had running for a while with other versions of sendmail. Ultrix 3.0
sendmail calls itself Sendmail 5.57/2 4/27/87.

My problem is with mail originating at a DECNET machine. The
$g variable is getting hosed:

sender = ccvax1::sam
$g     = :sam@ccvax1

Is $g getting built by use of the rewriting rules? In other words
can I change sendmail.cf to fix this.

The problem is evident when trying to reply to the sender. There
is a return-path: header field set this way.

Also, when is return-path: used.

Thanks.

Sam
