[comp.mail.sendmail] NEED BONEHEAD HELP

 I am a new USEnet user and am trying to figure out some basic
 things.

 1) I noticed a lot of people have some standard sign-off at the
 end of their messages, I know computer people are lazy so they
 probably don't type the sign-off in every time.  how do you save
 things and then post them? I have attempted to post a file created
 with vi, but have been unsuccessful. This is what I did: use
 "postnews" command, which takes me into vi then I do a ":filename"
 which brings up the file I want to modify, I make then changes the
 do "shift-zz", it asks me if I want to post, I say yes.  Then it
 says "file not modified, did not post".  What am I doing wrong?

 Is there any instructions anywhere on the net for this kind of
 thing?
