[comp.mail.sendmail] Configuration help

nem@io.UUCP (Nancy Milholland x3436) (07/19/89)

Our mailer, at least I'm pretty sure it's our mailer, seems to rewrite
the From: address so that a machine in the reply path gets dropped out.
Here's an example:

 From ileaf!mit-eddie!cunixc.cc.columbia.edu!deb Thu Jul 13 13:46:58 1989
 Return-Path: <ileaf!mit-eddie!cunixc.cc.columbia.edu!deb>
.... Lots of recieved by messages .....
 Date: Thu, 13 Jul 89 13:00:22 EDT
 From: Deborah Goldstein <ileaf!deb%cunixc.cc.columbia.edu>
 To: ileaf!io!isis!nem%eddie.mit.edu (Nancy Milholland x3436)

The first From line and the Return-Path lines are correct, but the
second From line has munched mit-eddie. I was trying to use sendmail -bt
to see where it was getting swallowed but couldn't duplicate the process.
What rulesets would get applied to this From line, what would the address
coming in look like, what should the output look like.

Mit-eddie talks to ileaf via uucp which passes the message to io via uucp
which passes it on to my host with tcp-ip.
