baumann@muon.uucp (Michael Baumann) (10/06/89)
We are currently running SunOS 4.0.3, with the standard sendmail.cf distributed with same. Our problem is this: We wish to have our outgoing mail appear to come from proton.uucp ONLY, with all internal machines hidden. Furthermore, we wish to continue to be able to use the smartuucp mailer on proton, with the clients using the ether. ucrmath.ucr.edu is acting as our "world-link". Unfortunately if I attempt to send mail from a client "foo" as in 'mail user@bar.some.domain' the from line generated looks like: From: me@foo. <-- the period is there, and no mention of proton! This tends to screw up mailers. What have I done wrong, and how can I solve my problem? I have heard of something called smail that is rumored to solve this problem. If so, where might I find it? (I do have some anonymous ftp access through another site.) We need to resolve this problem soon, as we are having important mail go astray. Please use one of the below paths. For obvious reasons.
