We have a system running ULTRIX 3.1 and using MAIL11D_V3. I am able to use this system quite effectively as a gateway for mail between TCP/IP-only and DECnet-only sites. However, there is a problem with the From:, From, and Return-Path: lines passed on by the gateway system in mail going from DECnet sites to TCP/IP sites. For example, if user SOURCE on DECnet node DNONLY sends mail to me at trn@warper.jhuapl.edu with the line IGATE::GATEWY::"trn@warper.jhuapl.edu" the Return-Path: in the message I receive on warper will be IGATE::DNONLY::SOURCE GATEWY is not being passed along as part of the path. I would expect to see something along the lines of IGATE::DNONLY::SOURCE@gatewy_inetname.domain or @gatewy_inetname.domain:IGATE::DNONLY::SOURCE in order for me to reply to the message. Note: when I send mail *from* warper to a DECnet-only node, the return path is properly constructed for the recipient. Has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone know if there is a patch for either MAIL11D_V3 or sendmail.cf which will properly construct the From: field in this situation? Any help here would be apprieciated. I suspect that this is not a mail11d bug but rather a bug in your sendmail.cf file. (Or ULTRIX's sendmail.cf file...) Anyway, that's where I'd look. Fred
