I have a possible sendmail bug (or feature) in what I beleive to be an old sendmail5.61 with IDA. A user sends mail to an unqualified name, assuming that it will be delivered on the local host. The name "pal" does not exist as a login name, but does match part of a (different) user's GECOS field. This is the output of "grep -i pal /etc/passwd", and shows what I mean. npal:*************:105:100:Pete Lee:/user4/staff/npal:/bin/csh q137p:*************:2032:2000:M.J. Palmer:/user3/mscdip/q137p:/shells/hupsh Part way through the processing of queue file, after using rulesets 3,0,2,R,4 on the "To" field from the SMTP envelope, I get:- qfAA25676: line 5: pal... sending to login name q137p (The config file came from UK-snedmail-1.4, but has been modified a little since then). Does anyone recognise this as a bug or feature, how do I switch it off, or can't I? It looks to me like some sort of compile option that I need to set differently.
