I have noticed that when sendmail establishes an SMTP connection, it only sends one piece of mail, even if there are mutiple mail messages queued for the machine it has connected to. Thus for each piece of mail it establishes a connection and if the machine is hard to connect to (say like uunet a few weeks ago) some mail messages will get through other will be deferred. (I should note this is in Sun 4.0.x sendmail, tho reading the code for 5.61, it looks to me as if it behaves similarly) My question is: Why? It seems to me that you could just do a RSET between each message. Just curious. ->Spike -- "The World" - Public Access Unix - +1 617-739-9753 24hrs {3,12,24}00bps
