Picture this, a man sitting at a Sun wading through the infinite strangeness of sendmail.cf configuration files. Hopefully, that hit a sympathetic chord with someone that has successfully completed what I have not and they are now willing to assist me in my endeavor. What I am trying to do is the following: Our group is moving from Macs to Suns and we now have around 20 Suns. In the next couple of months that should change to just under 50 Suns. Currently, I have one of our servers running sendmail as a daemon to support a Mac QuickMail<->Unix mail gateway and it supports mail from one other Sun (mine, but requires a kludge). I have /var/spool/mail from the mailhost NFS mounted to other Suns. I want people to be able to read their mail on any Sun and send mail from any Sun - the sent mail would be routed through the mailhost. The problem that I have now is that the config files that I have put together do not rewrite the FROM line so that when someone replies to mail originating from a client the FROM path has the client's name instead of the mailhost. I would guess that I need to make changes to the sendmail.cf running on the client so that it rewrites the FROM path to be user@mailhost instead of the current user@client. Would someone that has this configuration up and running be willing to send me the config files from their client & mailhost? Additionally, since the kludge that I have made does not work with gnus postnews facility - replying to this message won't work - dirt.frc.ri.cmu.edu will bounce the mail.
