There should be a 'frequently asked questions' monthly posting for this group. I am sure this would be the first one in there. Having just recently migrated from a Xenix world using smail, I have run smack into sendmail and its wicked sendmail.cf config file. I was truly amazed by the apparent complexity of that file. I had to double check the parity setting on my printer port. ;) I am running SunOS 4.0.3. I have pathalias running once a week building my uu maps, and 'findpath' verifies that these work correctly. How do I tell sendmail to access my maps? eg. A message addressed to bob@system I want sendmail to do a findpath bob@system which will give me something like host1!host2!host3!system!bob which is exactly what I want. Currently I just get an 'unknown host' error message if I try to mail to bob@system. This was easy to do with smail, I am sure it is just as easy with sendmail, I just haven't found it described anywhere. Would it be redundant to install smail3 on a system with sendmail? -- Rasmus Lerdorf | ..!geac!dmntor!rasmus (Work) (416) 362-0788 UW SD Eng. '93 | ..!geac!contact!rasmus (Home) (416) 833-6987
