[comp.mail.sendmail] Local responsible host

mills@ccu.umanitoba.ca (Gary Mills) (08/05/90)

In the sendmail.cf that I'm using (version 25-eef from ucb) the local
responsible host is recursively removed in ruleset 0 so the mailer is
correctly resolved. However, this is not done in rulesets 1, 2, S, R,
or 4. Consequently, I sometimes get mail that is delivered locally to
`user', but the `To:' line says `localhost!localhost.domain!user'. Is
there some policy against cleaning up these addresses? I added a couple
of rules to rulsets 1 and 2 to catch common cases and the addresses look
better now. Is there a better place? Can these rulesets also call
themselves recursively?
