I'm having problems getting to quite a number of sites, especially those in the .COM domain; I don't seem to have problems getting to .EDU or .GOV machines. An example (names changed to protect the innocent :-): I want to send to foo@hostname.Company.COM, but the message gets defferred with a timeout, and eventually gets bounced back to me after three days. I can get it there if I send it to foo@Company.COM (presumably a mailserver at Company), **or** by sending to foo@hostname.Company.COM@uunet.UU.NET. What's the deal? The nameserver here at gsfc.nasa.gov tells me the ip address of both hostnames, so that shouldn't be a problem. Is it a broken sendmail.cf? or is my mail software brain-damaged. Any enlightenment you'd care to pass on is greatly appreciated (in advance!) -- ____________________________________________________________________________ INET: chris@asylum.gsfc.nasa.gov (128.183.10.155) NASA/GSFC: Code 735 UUCP: ...!uunet!asylum.gsfc.nasa.gov!chris Greenbelt, MD 20771 SPAN: PITCH::CHRIS Fax: 301-286-9214 Phone: 301-286-6093
