I got a problem to get the "sendmail" receive mail from other computer properly. The problem is on the Stellix 2.3B ( GS2000 ) which is system V.3. After the OS was installed, I put my domain, local and host as follows: DDxxx.xxx.edu CDlocal machine.xxx.xxx.edu DRzzz (here zzz is a root host for the LAN.) then I could send mail to other computers on the network and I can also send mail to local users by using: sendmail username But I can not use: sendmail username@machine.xxx.xxx.edu ( <-- machine is local hostname.) I used : sendmail -v user@machine I got the message indicating that the mail was sent to "zzz.xxx.xxx.edu". and then I can see the coming mail by mailq, and then mail was returned. So I put the following in my sendmail.cf file: in rule set S0: R$*<@machine.xxx.xxx.edu> $#local$:$1 then I can use: sendmail username@machine.xxx.xxx.edu and the mail can be received. But all the coming mail from other computers was returned with a message indicating that the mail had been hoped several times and finally was returned to the sender. If the coming mail from other computer is also sent by sendmail using sendmail.cf, I don't understand why mail can be sent to user mail box by typing : sendmail username@machine.xxx.xxx.edu and the coming mail with the same address(same format) can not be received. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jigang Yang | jigang@alliant.backbone.uoknor.edu Geosciences Computing Network | jigang@gcnuok.bitnet University of Oklahoma | Telphone: 405-325-5540 830 Van Vleet Oval,Gould Hall#116 | Norman, Oklahoma 73019 |
