[comp.mail.sendmail] accidently eating a subdomain's mail

ssd@engr.ucf.edu (Steven S. Dick) (02/17/91)

I'm currently using sendmail.mx that came with SunOS 4.1 and the
appropriate config. file. This seems to work fine for mail going out
of this domain, and mail coming in to it.

Recently, a subdomain was created under mine. The problem is that I
have been totally unable to get the sendmail in this domain to mail
to the sub-domain. I have made sure that all the right MX records are
in place, and such, in fact, external mail gets to the subdomain with
no problem...

What can I do for this?

Here's an abbreviated listing from sendmail in address test mode...
# /usr/lib/sendmail -bt
> 0 user@oak.ists.engr.ucf.edu
[deleted stuff: followed rules (3 (6))]
rewrite: ruleset 6 returns: "user" "<" "@" "oak" "." "ists" "." "LOCAL" ">"
[...]
rewrite: ruleset 0 input: "user" "<" "@" "oak" "." "ists" "." "LOCAL" ">"
rewrite: ruleset 0 returns: $# "error" $: "Never" "heard" "of" "host" "oak" "." "ists" "in" "domain" "engr" "." "ucf" "." "edu"

I've seriously considered dumping sun sendmail & putting in the sendmail
that berkely distributes... (or at least their sendmai.cf file?)
