I have a question regarding the IDA/NIU Sendmail package version 1.4.2 with Vaxmail support. We've trained our users to send mail to the vax world using a domain type syntax like this: smith@vax1.dnet.kodak.com and they abide by it pretty well. I'm replacing the tired, worn out mail hub using the IDA/NIU package. I'd like to preserve that syntax, but cannot understand how to take advantage of the table "DECNETXTABLE" which will flatten the domain type name to the simple DECnet name. The table is only consulted by the mailer TCP-D, but I would like to use it with the Dmail mailer. Without that table lookup, the To: line is not correct. It is delivered to the remote system with the To: line: OUR_HUB::"smith@vax1.dnet.kodak.com" which fails on the remote system. The From line is correct due to the use of the "HIDDENNET" option. We'd really like to To line to be VAX1::SMITH. Is there any way to convert the domain name to the simple DECnet name under the standard IDA/NIU options and tables? I really don't want to alter the Sendmail.mc since Neil has requested that we do not touch it. -- Donna McCrave Eastman Kodak Co. mccrave@SSD.Kodak.COM
