I have a local area network of SUN systems using the default sendmail configuration files and running the default SunOS Sendmail. The SunOS versions of machines range from OS 3.5 to 4.1.1. (Most of the servers are OS 4.1.1). Currently one of the servers handles all the e-mail and uucp communication with the outside world and is designated as the "mailhost" in the NIS master's /etc/hosts file. Simple configuration at present and it works fine. Now for the complication: I want to be able to set up a **second** mailhost. Mailhost #1 will be used for e-mail to all sites **except** our own company's offices worldwide. I want to use mailhost #2 solely for e-mail to/from other Racal-Redac sites. Thus, e-mail to other Racal-Redac sites will go out via mailhost #2 and all other e-mail goes out via mailhost #1. I don't see any problem as far as the incoming stuff, but I am looking for a relatively simple means of directing the outgoing e-mail based on the type of destination. For example, maybe it is possible to have all outgoing e-mail directed initially to mailhost #1 - and then forwarded via ethernet to mailhost #2 if the destination is another Racal-Redac site. Mailhost #2 then sends it out via uucp. If the destination is other than a Racal-Redac site, it goes out directly via uucp from mailhost #1. Please respond to me directly and I will summarize at a later date. Thanks. -- Leon A.
