Hi: I have a rather serious problem with our Sun Unix gateway and sendmail that I need a guru's help on. I hope this is the proper type of question for this group! We sell a product called Lotus Notes. Notes is a group-ware product as well as an E-Mail system. Along with this we sell a gateway to VMSmail. Internally we use this gateway to send mail to Internet sites by connecting to DNI on our Sun gateway machine. The problem I have is that the sender's address is represented as a quoted address string in the form: node::"Firstname Lastname @ NotesDomain" node - VAX Node of gateway that sent the message to DNI Firstname, Lastname - User's Notes address NotesDomain - An internal "domain" for the Notes mail system Basically, this from address is converted to: NODE!Firstname Lastname@NotesDomain So the quotes are getting stripped away and this makes the message unrepliable. I'm so new to sendmail that it's hard for me to find a place to start trying things. I need someones help! Here's what I'm looking for: 1) Does anyone have a document which can help a new (but pretty seasoned) E-Mail system writer/hacker get into sendmail? 2) Does anyone have a similiar problem already solved? If so, can you send me your sendmail.cf file so I can try to understand how you solved it? Also, if you have solved other problems like this an feel like sending me your sendmail.cf file so I can look at it, I would love to see them. Thanks for all your time! I'm not connected directly to the Internet, so please send things to me via mail. -- Brian Lambert Lotus Development Corporation blambert@lotus.com
