[comp.mail.sendmail] unusable mail headers - help!

amir@pilat.Israel.Silvaco.COM (Amir J. Katz (Xpert)) (03/25/91)

My configuration is:
 - SunOS 4.1.1
 - SparcStation IPC
 - Mail comes via uucp from a remote site 'taux01.nsc.com'.

In my incoming mail (from external senders), the 'From:' and 'Return-Path:' fields
do not contain the real sender's machine but

    user@taux01.nsc.com

and I have to read the full mail message trying to trace where the message originated
(unless, of course, if the sender posted his mailing address).

The only change I have put into the 'sendmail.cf' from the original Sun-supplied
'sendmail.main.cf' is the DR and CR lines which specify 'taux01'.

Where did I go wrong and how can I get it fixed?

I have RTFM'ed, but sendmail is not for everybody.

Please e-mail to me, using the address below.
