[comp.mail.sendmail] getting rid of redundant parts of an address

mcneill@eplrx7.uucp (Keith McNeill) (04/02/91)

We have to interoperate with some decnet nodes. Because of the way email is
forwarded the return addresses from decnet mail turns out to be something
like:

vax1::vax1::username@vax1.dnet

Is there any handy-dandy sendmail rule that can remove the redundant parts of
the address so that the address would be something like:

username@vax1.dnet

I've tried to come up with one...but I can't figure out how it would be done
with my minimal sendmail knowledge.

Thanks,

Keith
