Has anybody ever heard of a mode of transportation called a norman or normand or ... something like that? Thanks in advance maxg@tekig4 -- signature.

This is an obvious reference to the luxury ocean liner Normandie, which was sent by the French for "protection" to the U.S. during WW I. It stayed in New York, and was being re-fitted as a troop transport (some "protection", eh?) when fire broke out. It sank hours later due to the tremendous amount of water (!) pumped aboard to put out the fire. HOWEVER, the fire was put out. The ship never did see duty again, but was refloated after the war for dis- mantling. As a means of transport, it is probably past its prime! Is the :-) necessary? -Brian Diehm Tektronix, Inc.
