[comp.mail.sendmail] hostname.LOCAL in sendmail headers

My Sun's sendmail (SunOS 4.0.1, using stock sendmail.subsidiary.cf)
generally handles incoming mail well from other systems running
sendmail, but is rewriting From: headers on incoming mail from a SCO
UNIX system running MMDF with "hostname.LOCAL!username" .  These
messages are unreplyable, generating a To: header of
"hostname.LOCAL!username".

Can anyone help?  Thanks.
