I am having problems configuring a Sun with SunOS 4.1.1 as our Internet mail host. I have copied /usr/lib/sendmail.mx to /usr/lib/sendmail and copied sendmail.main.cf to /etc/sendmail.cf, but I am not sure what to set for the lines DM, DR, and CR in sendmail.cf: the major relay mailer and major relay host. I think the major relay mailer should be "ddn" because when I set the major relay host to point to a mail gateway outside of our domain I am able to send Internet mail properly. What I want to be able to do is configure the Sun itself as the major relay host. If I set the major relay host to the name of the Sun itself sendmail complains about the originating host name: host name configuration error. I know that our domain name server is OK because until recently our Internet mail host was running on another machine with no problems. Any help would be much appreciated. ________________________ Bob Fillmore, Systems Software & Communications email: fillmore@sun2.emr.ca Computer Services Centre, BIX: bfillmore Energy, Mines, & Resources Canada Voice: (613) 992-2832 588 Booth St., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1A 0E4 FAX: (613) 996-2953
