[net.games.trivia] 1000 batting average - followup.

cipher@mmm.UUCP (Andre Guirard) (12/05/85)

I previously posted a memo asking for the names of some baseball
players with 1.000 batting averages. I got no responses.

The one player I know of is Ty Pickup. He was in only one game, and I
think was at bat twice. If anyone knows of some others, I'd like to
hear of 'em.

Here is a complete list of all players with career 1.000 batting averages
(source: The Baseball Encyclopedia, published by MacMillan) plus some
interesting comments at the end:

LEGEND: H = Hits, AB = At Bats, POS = Position, N = National, A = American,
AA = American Association (1800's), ?? = Unknown, the Encyclopedia
	does not break down a pitcher's batting statistics into 1B, 2B, 3B,
etc., although they do list home runs.

average. He played in 264 games.
	2) Ray Searage is still active with the Milwaukee Brewers.
	3) John Paciorek is the brother of the Met's Tom Paciorek. John played
in one game (vs. the Mets) in 1963, but in that one game he had 3
hits in 3 at bats, walked 2 times, scored 4 runs and had 3 RBIs.
	4) Two of the pitchers also had lifetime won/loss percentages of 1.000.
