Thank you, everyone, who sent me bits and snippets of the songs. Thanks to your input, I've discovered that there are *TWO* major sets of lyrics to go with the Bonanza theme. Many thanks to Joel Shprentz and Owen Alexander for their help... The first one is from the original music written and copyrighted by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans: ---- We got a right to pick a little fight, Bonanza! If anyone fights anyone of us He's gota fight with me! We're not a one to saddle up and run, Bonanza! Anyone of us who starts a little fuss knows he can count on me! One for four, Four for one, This we gaurantee! We got a right to pick a little fight, Bonanza! If anyone fights anyone of us He's gota fight with me! ---- The other (and more well-known version) is the one that Lorne Greene sang on a 45 a while back, with considerably more lyrics: ---- We chased lady luck 'til we finally struck bonanza With a gun and a rope and a hatfull of hope we planted our family tree We got ahold of a potfull of gold, bonanza With a horse and a saddle and a ring full of cattle, how rich can a fella be? On this land we put our brand, Cartright is the name Fortune smiled the day we filed the Ponderosa claim Here in the West we're livin' in the best bonanza If anyone fights anyone of us, he's gotta fight with me [Bonanza-aaa, Bonanza-aaa] Hoss and Joe and Adam know every rock and pine No one works, fights or eats like those boys of mine Here we stand in the middle of a grand bonanza With a gun and a rope and a hatfull of hope we planted our family tree We got ahold of a potfull of gold, bonanza With a house full of friends, where the rainbow ends, how rich can a fella be? On this land we put our brand, Cartright is the name Fortune smiled the day we filed the Ponderosa claim Here in the West we're livin' in the best bonanza The friendliest, fightenest, lovinest clan that ever set foot in the promised land And we're happier than them all That's why we call it, Bonanza... Bonanza... Bonanza... BONANZA. --- Again, thanks to everyone who contributed.
