Here are a couple of programs I've written to display fractals and chaos.  

1. Tree - a gs SHR program to generate a 'crystal growth' tree.  
   It does this by starting with a seed in the center of the screen,
   and then starting one point on a corner moving on a random path.
   It goes around until it hits the seed, sticks there, and the process 
   is repeated.  It takes quite awhile to run, but when done looks pretty
   good.  

   Press 'C' at any time to cycle the colors, at a speed determined 
   the position of pdl (0).  Currently it's set to increment the plotting 
   color after 255 points are plotted.

   You can also press button 0 to watch the point move around the screen,
   or both buttons to start a new point in the next corner.

   Esc exits the program; call 32774 will continue with whatever is on
   the SHR screen.


2. Chaos.shr; chaos.hr - gs SHR and II hi-res versions of a program 
   based on one posted by Dave Konerding, dkonerding@eagle.wesleyan.edu.
   It works with the following algorithm:

    1. Select between 3 and 9 'points of influence' to be used and place
       them on the screen.  Select one of these, and make it the 'current
       point.'

    2. Randomly select one of te points of influence, and plot a new
       point on the screen halfway between it and the current point.
       Make this the current point.

    3. Go back to step 2.

At the main prompt, enter the number of point, 0 to exit, or E to enter
the editor.  The editor lets you enter new points to be used in subsequent
plots.  You may want to, for example, see what the resulting image from
a figure-8, for example, which is not possible with the default set.
Move the cursor around with the joystick, press button 0 to plot, and 
button 1 to exit to the main prompt.

On the gs version, the color is incremented each time a point is plotted.
This lets you see where the most active areas are, since they will be
a different color.  To make it more visible, you can also press 'C' to
cycle the screen, with the cycle speed based on the value of pdl (0).

4. Mandelbrot - a simple TML Pascal program to generate the Mandelbrot
set.  I know, everyone probably already has a few of these, but I 
thought I'd throw it in anyways.  Nothing fancy, and it's real slow,
but it works.

Source code is also included with all this since quite a few people
asked for it.  Thanks for not bugging me about my sloppy programming.
Btw, if anyone could fill me in on how to use the Memory Manager
so I can use QuickDraw II, I'd appreciate it.  (I had write my own
routines to interface to the SHR screen, since I couldn't QDStartUp
without an ID.)

Of course, all this stuff is freeware; do whatever you want with it, 
except sell it.  Please distribute this doc file with anything you
