() New Year Bash 91 Demo () () () () Unleashing The Power Of Your Apple II () HI-LIGHTS FOR THIS RELEASE: (in random order) o A message for the rival Beagle Bros. o Hi-res 3D animation o Hi-res scrolling animation o Two voice holiday music o Event-driven user interface o for GS: Auto-Speed-Piloting (active with smartport or hard drive) o The Wall - BBS ads. (Check this out!) o Artificial Stupidity o Double Hi-res display o Hi-lights of important events for Apple II in 1990 o Lots of humour incorporated - have some laughs.. REQUIREMENTS: An Apple //c, //e(enhanced), or //gs with at least 128K of RAM. Runs from 5.25 inch drive, 3.5 inch drive, or hard drive. INSTALLATION: You must unpack with ShrinkIt 3.0+. If you have a hard drive or a 3.5 inch drive, simply unpack both TBSP.DEMO1.SHK and TBSP.DEMO2.SHK onto the SAME directory, and some of the files in TBSP.DEMO2.SHK will overlap with TBSP.DEMO1.SHK, so simply skip those during unpacking. By the end, you should have the following files in the directory you unpacked to: BASH91.SYSTEM LINKSYS Dir DATA <--- This is one big DATA sub-direcory merged by TBSP.DEMO1.SHK and TBSP.DEMO2.SHK. If you only have 5.25 inch drive, then this is what you must do: Format two disks and name them: BASH91.S1 and BASH91.S2. Now, unpack TBSP.DEMO1.SHK to the disk with volume name BASH91.S1. Then, unpack TBSP.DEMO2.SHK to the disk with volume name BASH91.S2. In another words, this is what you will end up with: On /BASH91.S1/: BASH91.SYSTEM LINKSYS Dir DATA <-- This is a sub-directory with DAT and SRC files. On /BASH91.S2/: Dir DATA <-- This is a sub-directory with DAT and SRC files. I hope the above explanation helps. To summarize, for hard drive or 3.5 inch drive users, all the DAT and SRC files should be in one big subdirectory named DATA. For 5.25 inch drive users, you must separate them by unpacking to two disks (or one disk with two-sides, whatever...) If the above instruction seems confusing, then perhaps you should wait till the next release when the bugs in the cruncher are exterminated. The main reason for the demo not fit onto one 5.25 inch disk is the inability to compress alot of the raw data such as hi-res screen bitmap and blah... Sorry for the inconvience. Also, it is up to you to supply the PRODOS file. Another recommendation, if you are a GS user, its preferable to unpack to 3.5 inch disk or a hard drive. The speed-auto pilot routine interferes with the disk port and therefore is piloting is disabled when executed from 5.25 inch drive. WHAT'S NEXT: Well, if you have everything figured out (it's really not that difficult), enjoy the demo. Remember to send your comments and suggestions to the author by e-mail to address listed in the demo. Thanks and until next release... In 9 parts....
