[comp.binaries.apple2] LISA v. 3.2, lisa8/16, anix

ART100@psuvm.psu.edu (Andy Tefft) (05/09/91)

(Oops, am reposting this because I'm guilty of what I always complain
about people doing -- not including sufficient info on the file
for people to decide whether or not to download)

Randy Hyde recently put the LISA Assembler and his ANIX shell
on ucrmath.ucr.edu for anonymous FTP, and I offered to post them
here for the benefit of those of us without FTP.

The files "lisa.explain" and "anix.explain" follow. They give a short
description of what each of the files is for. I will try to label the
posts so you can tell which is which.

From what I can tell, LISA is for non-GSes with at least 64k.
There are separate GS versions which I will post later (don't
want to post too much at once).

Please note that I have no association with Randy or this software,
am just posting it as a favor to him (although I did download it
and am trying it out now).

BINARY -- The complete set of files required to run the LISA assembler under
the ANIX shell are contained in this file and in LISA.MST2 (next entry). The
files are stored in Binary II format and must be extracted before use. Files
in this B2 file are: ANIX.SYSTEM, DS, LISA.64K, LISAC02.64K, LISAC802.64K,
and SETUP.LISA64K. ProDOS and the /EXTRINSICS subdirectory (see ANIX.CMDS)
are also required.

BINARY -- This is the *complete* source code for Randy Hyde's LISA assembler
for the Apple (!!!). No holds barred here, folks -- now you can see how the
pro's design and code one of the best 6502/65C02/65C802/65C816 assembly lang-
uage compilers (using the term judiciously) available for the Apple.

This file requires the PROPACK program to decompress the source code onto a
blank ProDOS-formatted floppy disk. Source code is written with LISA, so
you'll need to download all of the LISA.* and ANIX.* files to get at this.

BINARY -- The GS version of the LISA assembler, complete with source code!
Randy & Brian have done an outstanding job with this program, and have put
together a shareware version of it for us GS hackers (and other Apple types;
this version supports all of the 65xxx processors used in the Apple) to use
for serious program development. Included with the assembler source are
sample source listings for desk accessories and other goodies (!). This one
is fast, powerful, and gives you full access to the Toolbox -- recommended
for the GS assembly language programmer. Comes with documentation and other
pertinent information as well.

This file is a BQY file (SQueezed Binary II files) and requires the BLU\
program to unpack and unsqueeze it before use. If you have them, you can
also use B2.DOWNLOAD to seperate the files, and AUSQ (Applesoft UnSQueeze)
to unpack the .QQ files into their normal state.

BINARY This is a BINARY II file containing Randy Hyde's version of UN*X for
the Apple computer. Runs under ProDOS and requires the B2.DOWNLOAD program to
extract ANIX.SYSTEM, ANIX.STARTUP, ANIX.EQUATES and SETUP.ANIX. If you're
interested in how this program is put together you will want to download the
LISA assembler (look for LISA.<extension> in APPLE APPLICATIONS) and the BNY
file named LISA.SOURCE (also requires B2.DOWNLOAD to extract files) containing
complete commented LISA source code for the ANIX shell.

BINARY This is a BINARY II (BNY) file containing /ANIX/EXTRINSICS commands
for the ANIX shell. You must have B2.DOWNLOAD, ALU, Point-to-Point, or some
other program that can convert BNY files into regular ProDOS files in order
to "unpack" this file!
