One problem anyone buying one of the DEC Personal Computers should be aware of: they have the same awful design mistake as the IBM PC in the keyboard layout -- a key between SHIFT and Z. Some people find they adapt to this quickly; some find such a keyboard totally unacceptable. Jerry Pournelle called the IBM PC the biggest disappointment of his life, for this and only this reason. The moral is: do not believe brochures that claim a "standard typewriter" keyboard layout; it ain't necessarily so.
