[comp.fonts] Help: do-it-yourself HP LaserJet Soft Fonts

dauith@dhw68k.cts.com (David B. Shapiro) (10/21/88)

Can anyone point me toward info on how to define and
download a font into an HP LaserJet series II?

(_My_ thought is that something like Fancy Font (tm?)
ought to be used, but it looks like we're going to try
to do it ourselves...)

There is a public domain or shareware editor for SoftFonts available from
Cooperworks BBS in or near Madison WI. It requires EGA + EGA monitor,
and can be downloaded from:

	1-608-271-3685 (at least 1200 Baud, 24 hrs.)

The file is called "QEDIT??.ARC" -- I don't know what the current version
designation is.

They also have several programs which will then download the font you have
created, utilities which produce character width tables, etc. Quite a selection
of ready-made public domain fonts, also.
