Does anyone know of a standard for filling in the empty spaces
in resident PostScript TeX TFM files?
Since PostScript fonts don't have greek letters like TeX CM fonts do,
the first 10 or so positions are empty in a TFM file for a PostScript font.
On the other hand, the PostScript fonts have several useful symbols.
It would be nice to be able to get at these from TeX. For example
the section symbol (/S in TeX) looks VERY different from font to font.
It would look real bad to use the CM section symbol with a Helvetica
font.
Has anyone established a standard for such things, or are the holes
left blank to retain maximum compatibility with CM fonts, or is it
"to each his/her own"?

Is there a PD program around for making TFM files for PostScript fonts?
