[comp.fonts] creating LQ dot-matrix printer fonts

chaim@nsc.nsc.com (Chaim Bendelac) (12/23/89)

Does anyone know of (or wishes to share with me) a program to assist
in the design and creation of a downloadable font for a LQ dot matrix
printer (Epson LQ compatible)? I'd like to play with my own fonts, but
do not look forward to the painfully detailed count-the-bits work.
Thanks.

On a basis of personal experience with it, I recommend David Sapir's
LQMatrix package, which consists of a font editor and a font downloader.
It is designed for use with Epson LQ printers, but I have used it with
an NEC P2200 with no difficulty. LQMatrix is a shareware package available
from Public Software Library in Houston. I believe that the registration
fee is about $35.00.

This recommendation is personal, and does not reflect the views of my
employer.
