I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the X11R3 version from Interactive displaying "random" colors. It seems that one can leave X, return to a "normal" login session and re-exec xinit and all of the colors internally have changed. I have looked all over the system trying to determine the cause. I have tried various video cards, reinstallation of the operating system, etc. with no avail. What is even more "odd" is the fact that if I shutdown the system with a "-i6" and reboot without powering down, that I could do this all day without a change in color. But occasionally, if I power the machine off and on, the correct colors will be restored. (Odd, isn't it..) I orginally believed that somehow the X software was resetting some internal registers on the VGA card, but if that was the case, wouldn't it happen every time? Any answers, hints, prayers would be welcome! Thanks, Brando P.S. If anyone can recommend a large color screen/video hardware combination for use under a 386/ix system, I would be very appreciative. +============================================================================+ | Brandon Brown Internet: brando@uiucme.me.uiuc.edu | | Addamax Corporation UUCP: uunet!uiucuxc!addamax!brown | | 2009 Fox Drive GEnie: xmg23356 macbrando | | Champaign, IL 61820 CompuServe: 73040,447 | +============================================================================+
