[comp.fonts] Looking for type 3 fonts information

blatter@ifi.unizh.ch (Martin Blatter) (03/17/90)

Hi, out there!

Does anyone know something about type 3 Postscript fonts?
This format is produced by the Mac program Fontographer.
Is there any technical information available from someone?

Thanks for your help!

Martin,

Actually, "type 3" refers to any user-defined PostScript font; Fontographer's
format is just one of many (although a popular one). I have looked at them
before; as I recall, they store the character descriptions as hex strings,
which are decoded and executed by a procedure. Reading the procedure and
thinking for a while should be sufficient to unravel the encoding.
