[comp.fonts] PS fonts, Apple Laserwriters

bmwu@athena.mit.edu (Benson M. Wu) (06/06/90)

	1. How are the screen fonts different from the laserprinter
fonts? Why couldn't I just download a screen font into an Apple laserwriter.

	2. I just came across some postsript definitions of computer
modern fonts. They are text files containing postscript definitions. How
do I use these fonts? Can they be downloaded into an Apple Laserwriter by an application such as SendPS 2.0? Will this font be usable by the laserwriter?
As text files they are not recognized as font
definitions by commercial appliations. Is there any application that
will turn a postscript definition file into font files recognizable by
applications and softwares. If it is possible to write postscript
definitions for fonts, how is writing screen bitmap fonts different from
writing fonts for laserwriters.

	3. I came across an application unadobe which turns fonts into
postscript definitions. What do people use this application for? What
benefit do we gain from such an operation?

Thanks in advance for the help. Please reply to me by e-mail.
