I am trying to create a font using a bdf file. I was told
that I need to convert the bdf file to either snf or pcf file
using bdftosnf or bdftopcf respectively. Then feed this file
to mkfontdir to get the required font. My problem is I do not have
any of these utilities here at SDRC. I am very grateful if you
could tell me where I can find these programs or how to generate
font from bdf files.
Thank you in advance.

BDF is the standard font interchange font format for the
X Windows System version 11 (it comes from Adobe).
If by 'making a font' you mean making a font available to the X window
server, then you right and you can will find these utilities (bdfto...)
on the X tape (or on the X ftp anonymous machine: expo.lcs.mit.edu).
Otherwise, a BDF file *is* already a font.
