CALL FOR PAPERS RIDT-91 The Second International Workshop on Raster Imaging and Digital Typography, RIDT-91, will be held in Boston October 16-17, 1991 under the sponsorship of the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the IEEE Computer Society. Papers are solicited for review by a distinguished program committee, listed below. Submissions are welcome in any of the following or related topics: - measuring type quality - color printing - rasterization hardware - anti-aliasing - digital halftone processing - page description languages - character generation and recognition - rasterizing algorithms - shape acquistion and manipulation - hint generation - font representations for automatic scan conversion - applications of human vision science to type design - character design, representation and transformation Full papers must be received by January 15, 1991 by the General Chair at the address below. Accepted papers will be published in a Proceedings which the Workshop expects to be published by Cambridge University Press in their series on Electronic Publishing. The conference will be preceeded by concurrent one day tutorials in typeface design, led by Kris Holmes and Hans Meier, and in type rasterization, led by Jacobo Valdes. Information for authors can be obtained by sending mail to the General Chair, or by retrieving the appropriate files by anonymous ftp to ftp.cs.umb.edu [192.12.24.4]. The appropriate directory is pub/ridt and a README file describes the various forms in which the call for papers is available, ranging from LaTeX source to PostScript. Individuals who do not wish to submit papers but wish to be on electronic or paper mailing lists to receive further information about the conference when the program is available may also reply to the address below.
