[comp.fonts] dvips and non-resident PostScript fonts

smith@zeus.harvard.edu (Steven Smith) (11/29/90)

We recently acquired Tom Rokicki's program dvips 5.4, and would like
to know how to use the virtual fonts found in ./dvips-fonts/PSvfs (the
non-resident PostScript fonts). It seems one requires the appropriate
pfb files, i.e., the Stone, Optima, and Garamond pfb families; are these
available over the network, or must they be licensed? In either case,
would someone tell us where they can be found?

In case I did something stupid when running dvips, here is the session
for a test of the font "gar." Must I do something else to access the
file AGaramond-Regular.pfb?
