Hi! I posted an article in comp.text.tex about problems I have generating decent fonts for our laser printer, which has a Ricoh engine. I got some responses, for which I am very grateful, but unfortunately they were not of much use. The problem is the following: I am trying to generate bitmap fonts (*.pk) from METAFONT sources for our laser printer, which is a write-white machine. I used the definitions for write-white machines which come in the standard TeX distribution (the white-setup.mf file and the U-Wash.mf file, which defines a mode for the Ricoh engine), but the results are still very poor (although much, much better than before!). If anybody has been able to generate nice fonts (i.e, fonts which look not worse than those for the Laserwriter!) I would appreciate very much any help! Please send me mail to: figuei@lutece.rutgers.edu Thanks for the trouble! Francisco Figueirido e-mail: figuei@lutece.rutgers.edu
