[comp.fonts] ChTeX

peterw@blia.sharebase.com (Peter Wisnovsky) (03/08/91)

There was a posting concerning the availability of Chinese support
for TeX. When someone here tried to ftp into the system listed as
having the ChTeX package, they did not have permission to do an `ls'
in the directory they were placed in, either as user `ftp' or
`anonymous'. We tried some of the standard dir paths but was not able
to find the archive.

The listing I have does not include the address of the author
or maintainer of the archive for ChTeX. Can someone who has this
information get in contact with me?

Thanks,

Peter Wisnovsky

P.S. The following is from the posting I mentioned:

ChTeX is a set of macros and fonts for typesetting Chinese under TeX.
It only supports PostScript, and requires a modivied dvi2ps. You write
your article with PinYin.

ftp: 192.12.216.114 (name: chiris.stevens-tech.edu)
ftp: note that the usercode is "ftp", not "anonymous".
Included are source, fonts, VMS binary for 5.2, DOS binary, etc.

Recently I got a ChTeX package by using

ftp 128.123.1.14

I used the user-name `anonymous'. After getting into the system,
you can use "cd" and "ls". The package is in the directory
/pub/chinese. For PostScript you need the files ChTeX.tar.Z
and dvi2ps.tar.Z. There are also files "cxterm.tar" and
chinese-fonts.tar, which are said to support X-window.
All the programs are well documented and can be easily
installed in different systems.
