OK. Here we go. I am not satisfied with the current font distribution that comes with TeX. Computer Modern is rather thin-ish, and besides I want *more*. I know one can buy the Adobe PostScript fonts in <.pk> format from Kinch.. But I feel like buying fonts is not in the line of the TeX world. Fonts must come free. I would like to create new fonts in MetaFont encoded format. Since creating a font from scratch would be too huge a task, I think picking a good existing font would be preferred. Now I have tinkered with MF and I know designing paths and strokes is not something to be done over the weekend. Besides it must be done next to the normal working hours. So what I propose is the creation of a WorkGroup to work on this together via Email. Has anyone got experience with such a scheme? Is it feasable? Can it be done? I can certainly not do it alone. Reaction(s) please. Erik-Jan Vens.
