I appreciate any fonts that are made publicly available, but I do
have questions:

	1) Some of these fonts are "duplicates" (in name at least) to
others that have already been uploaded. Are these replacements
or just another persons interpretation of a "common font" and
it is up to us as individuals to decide which interpretation we
like best? If that is the case, does anybody know an easy way
	   to compare the two? ...

	2) how does ATM deal with two fonts using the same name?

	3) Is there a way to rename (add additional characters) the fonts
as supplied so that the end user can determine the source?

I use a PS printer, but now with ATM I have no idea whether the
selected font is the ATM or the intrinsic version ... for example
I can select "zapf chancery" or "Zapf Chancery" in w4w.

	4) I am getting rather fed-up with the slowness of ATM and so was
considering (if possible) a separate win3 setup without it, but
was wondering what the best way to do it is.

I have tried disabling ATM (through the control panel), and save
some initial win3 startup time, but it appears to make no
difference in the slowness of all the other processes (calling up
an empty notepad has gone from virtually instantaneously w/o ATM
to 17 seconds with it ... argh !)

Thanks to one and all ... I will summarize any email I receive.

	   2) how does ATM deal with two fonts using the same name?

ATM will only allow 1 font with a given name. However, a couple of
the duplicates aren't really exact duplicates (you can see this if you
check the file sizes). In that case, I edited the PFB font to have a
slightly different name, then kept the one that looked better, or both
if they were different enough.

Look at the font files in your psfonts directory - the original Adobe
ones all have Adobe fonts - so look at those names and use those if you
want the real thing. Some people have made clone fonts, like the
lowercase "zapf chancery" - but they won't have Adobe's copyright.

	   4) I am getting rather fed-up with the slowness of ATM and so was
considering (if possible) a separate win3 setup without it, but
was wondering what the best way to do it is.

I have tried disabling ATM (through the control panel), and save

I noticed this too - ATM really slows down as you add fonts. To disable
ATM, edit the SYSTEM.INI file and take out the ATM stuff (this is described
in the manual, and is easy to figure out anyway). Then, you can make a
couple batch files which copy either the SYSTEM.INI for ATM, or a SYSTEM.INI
without anything to the SYSTEM.INI, and then run Windows. That's what I
do. If I just want to play Solitare or something, no ATM, but if I want
to do word processing, I use ATM, and leave the room for a while.

Thanks to one and all ... I will summarize any email I receive.
