[comp.fonts] Another REFONT problem needs solving.

Well, I finally got Refont to work.

I tried "UnAdobe-ing" the fonts and Refont didn't like them.
I tried sending them through the TOPS network and Refont didn't like them.
I tried sending them via modem and Refont didn't like them.
I tried using the Apple File Exchange and the AFE didn't like them.
I converted them to macbinary using MacLink Plus PC and then the Apple File
Exchange liked them but Refont didn't like them.
THEN
I used Dayna's "DOS Mounter" and Refont *finally* liked them.

So I brought over a bunch of fonts and their respective .afm files and
converted them. But when I tried to get ATM to load them it only recognized
about half of them, and even them it got the names wrong more often than
not. They seem to work, in spite of ATM's confusion. I examined the
Refont-created .pfm files and discovered that the font name appears twice.
First the family name (ie "Cheltenham") and then the font name itself (ie
"Cheltenham-CondensedItalic"). My suspicion is that something in the first
few lines of the .afm file is not where Refont is expecting it to be.

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this? I am hoping to get some
time to screw around with rearranging the order of the first few lines of
the .afm files to see if I can hit upon the magic combination, but if
someone wiser and smarter than I can fill me in on what to do, I could get
some much needed sleep instead and stop eating dinner after work at 6 in the
morning bitch bitch bitch etc.
