We are in th[C process of interfacing an INTEL MDS 286 WD with a VAX 11/780 and need information about sources for a synchronous modem eliminator compatible with the Bell 208 and 209 synchronous modems. We also need to find sources of information on how to install the INTEL Winchester disk drive unit with the MDS. We didn't get a manual, and we don't know how long it will be before the local INTEL rep can get us one. Any good words on either of these subjects will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks . If some other bboard would be more appropriate, let us know and we will give it a shot. John Williams - dciliax.micom at udel-relay

It works fine as a Bell 208/209 replacement. Draws its own AC power, switch selectable speeds 1200-19.2k, and switch-selectable RTS/CTS delay of 0-200ms (or will pass RTS/CTS through). Cable lengths of 50 feet are advertised; with good quality cable 500 feet is possible (we're using good 50' cable with no problems, and SCB is using 200' cables). $370 quantity one.
