I recently asked whether A/UX supports Sun's Remote Execution daemon. According to hoptoad.UUCP!gnu@cgl.ucsf.edu (John Gilmore), > Rexd is not anywhere in the A/UX release, and attempts from our Sun > to say "on grass date" say "on: cannot connect to server on grass" > (grass is our Grasshopper Mac-II). So the answer is, unfortunately, no. This is surprizing, considering that network computing is becoming important in engineering workstations, one of the markets A/UX is targetted at. Can anyone comment on Apple's present or planned support for network computing? Will they provide a toolkit for the Remote Procedure Call system (upon which NFS, Remote Execution, and several other services are based)?
