I just recently received my EtherTalk board for my Mac II and finally got my A/UX machine up on the network. When things work, everything seems to work well (ftp, telnet, nfs, sendmail), but frequently I have a problem which causes the network to come down. The problem sometimes happens as often as every half hour, or sometimes not for several hours. When the network goes down it is accompanied by console messages. I have seen three different (but similar) sets of console messages: Receive overflow warning ku_fastsend: if_output failed: error=70, sentpck=0, am=0 or ae6_intr: Receive overflow warning <hostname>: Network is down or ae0: overflow NIC reset failed ae6_intr: Receive overflow warning As soon as these console messages appear, the network is down and subsequent telnet's, ftp's, etc, fail with "Network is down". The only way I can get everything working again is to do "/etc/ifconfig ae0 up". Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I don't yet have the networking manual from APDA. In case it matters I'm on a class B network and my broadcast address is n.m.255.255. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --Jim Dempsey-- BBN Communications jjd@bbn.com (ARPA Internet) ..!{decvax, harvard, wjh12, linus}!bbn!jjd
