I have received some information on a second processor board for the Acorn BBC micro. I know very little about the base machine, other than it is used in conjunction with a BBC educational program on micros and that it is a 6502 machine. The add-on board has 256K of RAM, a 10MHz NS16032, and will run various operating systems (Acorn, UN*X, &IDRIS). Languages offered will include: PL1, FORTRAN, PASCAL, and C. The price will be around $1000 (!) for the add-on and $700 for the basic computer. No other info was offered other than an April 83 release. Does anyone know any more? Steve

From: David Vinayak Wallace <GUMBY.MIT-OZ@BRL> I used the BBC machine in France. It's a well-built piece of hardware. The software wasn't bad, for a micro. The support people seemed pretty good too (competent and helpful). The 16032 seems like a nice CPU -- fast, with a nice instruction set. If anyone is competent to use it well, I feel the BBC people are. The 16032 version will incorporate the the current 6502 machine as a front-end processor. Query: will the BBC machine ever be out with a US TV picture generator? david -------
